As the Product Designer for NxtAgent, I led the end-to-end UX and UI design of an AI-powered Industry Readiness Platform that helps students assess, improve, and track their employability skills.
I collaborated closely with product managers, AI engineers, developers, and stakeholders to translate business goals and user needs into intuitive, scalable product experiences. My responsibilities included conducting user research, defining information architecture, mapping user journeys, designing interaction flows, creating wireframes and high-fidelity interfaces, and building a reusable design system to ensure consistency across the platform.
I designed key product experiences including the My Story, My Baseline, My Calendar, Dashboard, AI Learning Assistant, Assessment Modules, Subject Learning, Analytics, and Personalized Improvement workflows. Throughout the project, I worked with engineering teams to validate feasibility, iterate based on feedback, and deliver production-ready designs that balanced user needs, technical constraints, and business objectives.

Research
Before designing the Academic Agent, we sought to understand how students prepared for academic assessments and why many struggled to maintain consistent learning progress. We collaborated with students, faculty members, and product stakeholders to identify the biggest barriers in the existing learning experience.

Students Lacked a structured daily learning plan
Studentes often knew what subjects they needed to study but struggled to decide where to begin each day. They frequently switched between multiple resources without a clear sense of priority, resulting in inconsistent learning habits
Design Opportunity
Provide a centralized dashboard that recommends today's activities, upcoming assessments, and progress at a glance.
Academic performance data was difficult to interpret
Traditional scorecards showed marks but rarely explained why students performed poorly or which concepts required attention. Students found it difficult to translate assessment results into meaningful next steps.

Present assessment outcomes using visual progress indicators, topic-level breakdowns, and personalized improvement recommendations.
Faculty struggled to monitor student progress at scale
Faculty members needed a quick way to identify students who required additional support. Existing workflows required reviewing multiple reports individually, making it difficult to monitor overall classroom performance.
Design Opportunity
Design dashboards and reports that summarize student progress while allowing instructors to drill down into individual performance when necessary.
Learning lacked continuity
Students typically prepared only before examinations or assessments rather than developing consistent study routines. Long gaps between learning sessions negatively impacted retention and confidence.

Introduce learning calendars, progress tracking, streaks, and reminders to encourage regular engagement and build long-term study habits.
Students wanted immediate academic support
When students encountered difficult concepts, they often left the platform to search for explanations elsewhere. This interrupted their learning flow and reduced engagement.

Integrate an AI-powered academic assistant capable of answering questions, explaining concepts, and guiding students without requiring them to leave the platform.

Designing a Personalized Learning Dashboard
Challenge. Students often logged into the platform without knowing where to begin. Progress, upcoming activities, and recommendations were scattered across different modules, making it difficult to prioritize learning.
Design Decision. We designed a centralized dashboard that surfaces the most relevant information—learning progress, upcoming tasks, calendar events, recent activity, and AI recommendations—within a single view.
Why?. This reduces cognitive load and helps students immediately understand their current status and the next best action without navigating through multiple screens.

Results in Actionable Insights
Challenge. Traditional assessment reports provided scores but offered little guidance on how students could improve.
Design Decision. Instead of presenting raw scores, we grouped performance into meaningful sections such as Industry Readiness, Technical Skills, Communication, and Improvement Areas, accompanied by personalized recommendations.
Why?. Students can quickly identify strengths, understand weaknesses, and focus on the most impactful areas for improvement.

Building the Design System
Challenge. The platform includes dashboards, assessments, analytics, AI interactions, reports, calendars, and multiple learning modules. Without consistency, the experience would become fragmented as the product evolved.
Design Decision. We developed a reusable design system with standardized components, typography, color tokens, spacing, charts, and interaction patterns.
Why?. A design system improves usability, accelerates design and development, and ensures a consistent experience across all Academic Agent modules while supporting future scalability.
