Problem Statement
Problem Statement
Educational institutions lacked a centralized way to monitor academic delivery, syllabus progress, faculty performance, and compliance across different administrative levels. Existing workflows relied heavily on manual reporting, resulting in delayed decision-making and limited visibility into institutional performance.
The objective was to design a role-based dashboard ecosystem that empowers university leaders and faculty with actionable insights, real-time analytics, and streamlined academic management.

User Flow
User Flow
The user flow illustrates how the Head of Department interacts with the platform to accomplish core objectives. By prioritizing frequently used tasks and reducing unnecessary navigation, the flow creates an intuitive experience that helps users monitor departmental performance, track syllabus completion, review faculty metrics, and generate reports efficiently.

Information Architecture
Information Architecture
The Information Architecture follows a role-based approach, prioritizing the Head of Department's core tasks and workflows. Features are structured into intuitive categories such as Dashboard, Faculty Management, Academic Monitoring, Analytics, and Reports, allowing users to efficiently monitor departmental performance, track syllabus completion, and access actionable insights with minimal cognitive effort.

Solution
Solution
Designed a centralized academic performance management platform that enables universities to monitor institutional performance from a single dashboard while giving each stakeholder role-specific access to actionable insights.
The solution consists of four role-based portals:

The solution consists of four role-based portals:
"
Admin Portals
"
Dean Portals
"
Director Portals

Faculty Portals
Each portal provides only the information required for that user's responsibilities, reducing complexity and improving operational efficiency.

Design System
Design System
To ensure consistency, scalability, and efficient collaboration throughout the product, a unified design system was established before moving into high-fidelity UI design. The system follows a modern enterprise dashboard approach inspired by IBM Carbon Design System, Material Design 3, and Atlassian Design System, while being customized to align with SRM University's branding and stakeholder requirements.
Accessibility was incorporated throughout the design process by following WCAG 2.2 Level AA guidelines. The interface maintains sufficient color contrast ratios, a clear typography hierarchy, predictable navigation and interaction patterns, keyboard-friendly components, and responsive layouts across multiple user roles, including Director, Dean, Faculty, and Admin Portals. These standards help ensure the platform is usable, inclusive, and accessible for users with diverse abilities while maintaining a consistent experience across devices.
